| Life Imprisonment, fine awarded to murder accused; three acquitted | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Jan 1 : 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu awarded life-imprisonment and fine Rs one lakh to one Sonu Kumar who was facing trial in murder case. Court also acquitted three accused namely Deepak Singh, Surjeit Singh and Rajesh Kumar from the murder charges. After hearing both sides 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Y P Bourney awarded life-imprisonment and fine Rs one lac to one Sonu Kumar s/o Jadgish Raj r/o Gho-Manhasa Tehsil Jammu and fine who was facing trial in murder case and acquitted three accused namely Deepak Singh, Surjeit Singh and Rajesh Kumar from the murder charges. Court observed besides love and affection the accused has also not shown any remorse for his conduct despite being in the jail as under trial since last more than five years and thus he is therefore sentenced to imprisonment for life and pay a fine of Rs one lakh for the commission of offence u/s 302 RPC. The court sentenced three years rigorous imprisonment to accused u/s 452 RPC and further said that the fine amount on its realization shall be paid to the widow of the deceased as compensation. According to the police case that on May 25, 2008 a uncle of deceased lodged complaint at Police Post Sandwan alleging therein that his nephew Sain Singh an ex service man was called by Sonu at about 10:15 PM took him out up to the gate, the other accused persons who were already hiding there attacked on him with Kirch and stabbed him thereby injuring him critically and fled away from the spot. Police registered a case and after completion of investigation presented challan against accused persons in the court of law. (JNF) |
