CM seeks Interim Report

Jammu, Jan 1 : In yet another major embarrassment for revenue department, the Chief Minister's Secretariat has sought interim report from the GAD and Commissioner of Vigilance on the news item published in Early Times titled " Vigilance Seizes Fake Latha of Chowadhi Area" on 6th of December . Meanwhile, High Court has called a 'status report' from Investigating Officer of the case lodged against Shashi Thakur, Dy SP and put a stay in further investigation in the said case.
As per letter no CMS/Gen/2013/217 dated 26-12-2013, " The Under Secretary is directed to invite the attention of Secretary to Government, General Administration Department (Vigilance) towards Press Report appeared in the Early Times dated 06.12.2013 under the caption 'Vigilance Seizes fake Latha of Chowadhi area' and to enclose all the connected papers of the case. Action taken report/present status of the case was sought from the Commissioner of Vigilance vide letter dated 08.11.2013, which is still awaited. Secretary to Government, General Administrative Department is requested for to have an interim report along with present status of the case from the Vigilance Organization and furnish the same to this Secretariat."
Early Times had published the said news when officers of State Vigilance Organization had seized the unauthenticated latha of Chowadhi area when a joint Revenue and Vigilance team had come to Chowadhi to demarcate the khasra number 887 and to find out if any encroachment has taken place along the Chowadhi -Sainik Colony Nallah as alleged by Shashi Thakur, DySP.
However, Shashi Thakur was booked under section 447,427,323,506 RPC against FIR no 100/2012 on court's direction. Court gave order of registration of FIR to Channi Police against her as one Ashiq Hussain son of Qasim Din of Chatta, presently, Uttam Nagar, Gangyal who in his plea alleged that DySP Shashi Thakur had been interfering in a piece of land which is in his peaceful possession. Later, DySP Headquarter Jammu Rouf Lone in an inquiry report submitted that the FIR lodged against DySP Shashi Thakur in police station Channi Himmat Jammu has not been proved and should be closed down accordingly.
The job of new inquiry over the issue was later entrusted to SDPO City West Jammu.
Earlier, Chief Minister ordered Vigilance probe and sought report accordingly following the allegations that a minister, some police and revenue officials area instrumental for ongoing illegal construction on a stretch of 8 kanal land at Chowadhi along road on nullah at Sunjwan Sainik Colony near Sharma Resorts.
The complaint was filed by RTI activist SK Bhalla to Chief Minister stating that illegal construction is in progress in Sunjwan with the connivance with the politician revenue and police officers. Based on the complaint letter was shot to the Director Vigilance by CM Secretariat for probing, who in turn, dispatch the same to the Vigilance Jammu for further action.
