| Cong takes exception to NC's `closeness' to Sonia, Rahul | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 1: The Congress has taken serious note of the National Conference's assertion that its cadre wants it go alone in the polls and not have any truck with the Congress. The party high command had been communicated about it by the state leadership, which has also expressed serious reservations about the manner in which NC provincial president Devender Rana completely ignored the issues of the State Congress and complimented Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. "NC is doing just political posturing and is trying to side track the State Congress leadership including Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saif-ud-Din Soz. It is trying to show that NC leadership-read Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah- are close to Congress president and vice-president and that it is the only thing that matters most," said a senior Congress leader. Rana in a statement issued on Tuesday had said both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had reposed faith in the leadership of Omar Abdullah. He had even too reservation about the Congress demand for implementing 73rd and 74th amendments. "Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are our leaders. But the day-to-day affairs are being run by the state unit. It's the state unit which interacts with the people. This statement is aimed at demeaning us and we have communicated to the party high command and they have also expressed strong concern over the contents of the Statement issued by Rana," said Cong Minister. The statement of Rana came at a time when Congress has almost decided to snap ties with the NC. Fearing the eventuality, NC is now adopting dual policy of snubbing the state leadership while getting close to Congress high command and showing that it's more loyal to the king. The party workers have decided to hold rally for asserting their position and tell categorically to the party high command that any alliance would only serve the NC but would harm the Congress. |
