| JKS observes black day | | | | Jammu, Jan 1 : Jat Kalyan Sabha (JKS) today observed as black day in which OBC status has been granted to Jats of India whereas in Jammu and Kashmir have been left out. According to press release, JKS president Kamal Singh said that they were struggling and agitating for the OBC status for the last twelve years as the Jats of other Indian state were also agitating. To the utter surprise of the community o£ the government granted OBC status all over the country in the state as well as central service, but there was no mention of the Jats of J&K. It is not out of place to mention here the Jats of J&K have suffered a lot during the Indo-Pak wars of 1947. 1965, 1971 and 1999 conflicts as well. They are mostly settled on Borders with Pakistan where they are in utter neglect and living a life of extreme backwardness and fully deserve grant of OBC status. He further said that the community would come to streets and roads for fulfillment of demand of grant for OBC status. It is very strange that UPA government has recently recommended the grant of OBC status in Central services in respect of MP, HP, UP, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujrat, Delhi and Bihar. Whole country accepts the backwardness of J&K State, than how it is possible the Central Government considers the Jats of J&K forward while recommending the OBC status for other states of India and neglecting the J&K State Jats. He further said that the UPA government directed from state government for recommending OBC status to the Jats. He further said that we also met P Chidambaram when he was the Home Minister who had made a commitment for granting OBC status in the whole country including J&K but presently J&K Jats have been discriminated. |
