| Authorities allegedly fail to store ration supplies' before harsh weather conditions | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri, Jan 1: District administration allegedly has failed to store ration as 'reserve' in Budhal tehsil for the people living in remote areas during winter as these areas remain cut due to snowfall in the areas. As per information provided by the Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO), Kotranka although the kerosene oil is available in the stores for these months but they have yet not received ration supply including sugar, Atta, rice etc for the months of January onwards. "TSO Kotranka informed that they have not received any extra supply of ration to be stored for the extreme winter months when areas remain cut due to heavy snowfall" said Asrar Mir, tehsildar Kotranka. Here it needs in a 'public meet' held on Saturday at Badhal and Khawas locals had apprised the DDC Rajouri that the area will soon be cut from rest of the district and due ration and fuel supplies needs to be stored at depots. Mohd Riaz , Panch Gadyog and Shakeel Singh political leader from Badhal lamented that they have taken up the issue of due storing of ration and fuel in remote winter zones with Hemant Kumar, DDC Rajouri. "before the ration could reach at Kotranka the heavy snowfall has blocked the roads and it is apprehended the people living in far flung areas will face shortage of ration during coming days" said Shakeel Singh. Meanwhile Sayeed Ahmed, Assistant Director CA&PD said that release for the month of January was delayed due to some unavoidable circumstances. "If Weather God permits things will remain under control and supplies will be ensured in far remote areas in coming days, he added. The winter woes are not related only to ration supply but they make students vulnerable to 'forced absence' in their examinations also which is evident from forced absence of 16 studednts from Kandi-Kotranka-Budhal to their examination BA part 1st (private) examination at Rajouri centre. "These unfortunate students were forced to return from Rehan after road closed after heavy snowfall while they were on way to Rajouri, reports said. "The matter was apprised to District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri who has assured to take up the matter with higher education authorities to take examinations on the other day, " said Asrar Mir,tehsildar Kotranka. |
