| Omar drowns worries in a cup of coffee! | | | Mustansir SRINAGAR, Jan 29: Giving an impression that he was unmoved by the latest crisis in his Government over the issue of creation of new administrative units, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah enjoyed coffee and tweeted at his Srinagar residence. The Chief Minister who should have been either in New Delhi or at least in Jammu today was enjoying making coffee and tweeting at his Srinagar residence. Doing away with the rumours that he has been called to New Delhi by none other than his father, Farooq Abdullah after the later sorted out the issue of administrative units with Congress High Command, Omar was busy in tweeting about his new experience of making coffee in new machine gifted to him by his sister. "Damn I'm a real tube light today. I only just got the chaiwalla coffeewala jokes. And now come the wise cracks -"only today???," said Omar's tweet when news stories about his flying to New Delhi on the advice of his father were going viral. Omar Abdullah, who came to summer capital Srinagar on Tuesday evening and then decided to spend the night here, did not fly either to Jammu or New Delhi today. "My poor sister is going to wake up and wonder what hit her when she sees her TL." Omar's another Tweet said. Cheapest way to make the most amazingly smooth coffe," the Tweet said Sources said that earlier Farooq Abdullah played a crucial role in bridging the gap between the Congress and the NC with his proximity to 10 Janpath spoke to Omar Abdullah late Tuesday evening informing him that the crisis had been resolved. On the instructions of the Congress high command, four Kashmir Ministers who are members of a Cabinet Sub-Committee on the new administrative units remained closeted in a meeting that ended around 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday at the residence of Ambika Soni, the Congress general secretary in-charge party's Kashmir affairs. The meeting was also attended by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and PCC president Saif-ud-Din Soz. The four Ministers who attended the meeting included Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Sham Lal Sharma and Urban Development Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora of the Congress, and Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir, who is a Congress nominee in the Cabinet. "The deadlock was finally resolved after the sub-committee members were advised to submit their report to the Cabinet recommending over 2,000 new administrative units in the state," top Congress sources said. The State Government had set up a commission which had recommended 900 new administrative units and the NC wanted to go ahead with this. They added that Omar Abdullah and his father finally managed the intervention of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son and party vice president Rahul Gandhi to shoot down the dissent within the State Congress unit over the creation of the new administrative units. The State Government had set up a commission which had recommended 900 new administrative units and the NC wanted to go ahead with this. |
