Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 29: A day after rumours reached crescendo on coalition allies National Conference and Congress snapping ties coupled with Chief Minister's resignation clamour, tension has suddenly waned and vanished from the political turf, with both chanting 'all is well' mantra again. After 'intervention' from New Delhi, leaders from both the parties are back to state gear and Cabinet Sub Committee convening meeting hours after the members of Congress returned back to Jammu. Playing down the tension that gripped to hilt making coalition on verge of collapse. Both the parties have as always come up with 'face saver' strategies to play the matters down. The crisis for the time being is over but both the alliance partners have suffered one more stroke of credibility deficit that is likely to do more harm than fetching any dividends that they were looking up to on the issue of new administrative units. Tension for now may have waned, but crisis is far from being over and persists deeper in the relations.
Sources said that even though New Delhi has made its intervention to salvage the coalition Government from dying sudden death, this has made both the partners feel low as the manner both dragged this issue to New Delhi and the developments that followed swiftly ended in a whimper , albeit not before exposing the leadership of the parties at the state level. Sources also said after meeting with its Ministers who happen to be members of the CSC , Congress High Command on whatever grounds have deemed it proper to let the applecart move the way it has been in not letting it get disturbed at this critical juncture, but the move has not augured well with the workers at the ground level of the party who decipher it on lines that their leaders are not able to convey and convince the High Command on concern of masses related with the creation of new administrative units.
However, sources also indicate that the High Command of Congress in not letting the 'balance' between the two allies in present coalition Government get disturbed has not done so far no gain. Some deal or understanding between the two parties in context of issues core to them has certainly struck which has brought down the political tempers instead of letting them soar high, said sources adding that Congress is not a party which will settle before ensuring some political dividends to its kitty.
On the other hand, the members of party on board CSC are gearing up for what they contend massive exercise pending that needs to be accomplished in just two days before it would prepare a 'comprehensive' report covering what it has been arguing unrepresented areas in earlier committees and the gaps to be plugged therein the new report.
