| 12 years on, 6 PMGSY projects in Doda far from completion | | | Bijay Charak
Jammu, Jan 29: Six road projects in Doda district under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) which were sanctioned around 12 years back are still far from completion, pointing a finger at the laid back approach of the executing agencies.Sources informed Early Times that six road projects under PMGSY to the tune of Rs. 875.73 were sanctioned in the year 2001-02 in various blocks of district Doda, but none of the project has been completed so far.
"These six projects include road from Jakias to Gondo in Bhalessa block. The total length of road was 6 kilometers and sanctioned cost of project was Rs 191.4 Lakhs, which was rescheduled and cost was enhanced but till date the expenditure on the project was Rs. 224.92 Lakhs but so far project has not completed", sources said. Another project, sources said, in block Doda is seven kilometers road from Doda to Malwana Jagir, costing Rs. 212.07 Lakhs but till date only Rs. 172.4 Lakhs were utilized by the executing agency and project is still incomplete. Divulging further details, sources said that another road project was from Batote Bypass to Mango Nallah. "The total length of road is only 1.5 Kilometers and sanctioned cost of project was Rs. 45.57 Lakhs, but till date only Rs. 22.45 Lakhs has been utilized and road was still in sub-grade stage", sources said. They further informed that another road project was 4 kilometers road from Kishtwar to Kandhil, sanctioned at the cost of Rs 128.8 Lakhs. "Till date only Rs. 134.98 Lakhs have been utilized and road is still in earth work stage", sources said, adding that another road project was from Shandri to Sharotie, sanctioned at the cost of Rs. 166.8 lakhs. "The length of road project was 5 kilometers and expenditure till date is Rs. 124.22 lakhs. The road project is still in BT stage", sources said. Moreover the sixth road project was 4 kilometers road from Shivnagar to Sawaran, sanctioned at the cost of Rs. 130.41 Lakhs. "Till date the expenditure on the project is Rs.168.76 Lakhs and still the road project is at BT stage", sources said. |
