Jammu, Jan 29 : The State Information Commission (SIC) has issued a penalty show cause notice against Block Development Officer (BDO) Gool Ramban for violating Right to Information Act (RTI) as the officer had failed to provide Information under State RTI Act to an RTI applicant from Marmat Doda. Pertinent to mention that the said BDO was earlier posted in Marmat block of Doda district and got transferred to Gool block of Ramban district some time back. One Mashkoor Ahmed from Mangota District Doda moved an application dated 22-07-2013 under J&K Right to Information Act, 2009 before the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Doda wherein he sought certain information(from 01-04-2009 to 15-07-2013) of various schemes such as MGNREGA, BRGF, CDF and other schemes in Block Marmat, Doda. The Public Information Officer (PIO) cum BDO, Marmat did not provide the requisite information to the information seekers within the stipulated period. Feeling aggrieved of inaction on the part of the PIO, the appellant preferred 1st appeal following which Director, Rural Development Department, Jammu directed BDO, Marmat to provide the requisite information as desired by Mashkoor Ahmad within 10 days. The appellant filed 2nd appeal dated 19-11-2013 before the State Information Commission (SIC) and alleged non compliance of the order of the FAA ie Director Rural Development Jammu. Taking cognizance of the appeal, SIC in its order said, "On the basis of submissions made by the appellant, PIO/BDO, Marmat is hereby directed to provide the requisite information free of cost to the information seeker within 10 days from the date of receipt of this order under an intimation to the Commission. |
