Jammu, Feb 23: Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar today celebrated its Annual Day cum Prize Distribution function. Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone was the Chief Guest, and Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad, Secretary, Higher Education was the Guest of Honour, Anil Gupta, Special Secretary, Higher Education and Prof. TA Kawoos, Director Colleges were the special guests. Prof. Nalini Kohli, Former Director Colleges was also present. A mesmerizing cultural programme was also presented by the students including Geetru - a traditional Dogri Geet, Kashmir Dance, Ladakhi Dance and Contemporary Dance on the theme of Women Empowerment. Dandiya a traditional Gujrati dance also bewitched the audience. She highlighted the various achievements made by the College in different areas and also the unprecedented leaps of success clinched by the College. Chief guest and other dignitaries also released the five annual Newsletters namely E-Odyssey by IQAC, Quest by Science Club, IRIS by Red Ribbon Club, Humanity by Red Cross Unit, Symphony by Language Club, Horizon Newsletter of the campus and Research Reporter by Research committee of the College. Earlier the Minister inaugurated the Smart Class Room and Radhakrishnan Block and handed it over for the use of students. The programme began by seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha followed by lighting of the lamp. Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the college welcomed the chief guest, guest of honour, special guest and other dignitaries and also read out the annual report of the college. |
