Poonch, Feb 23: Ajaz Jan MLA Poonch reiterated that present government was determined to implement Panchayati Raj Act in letter and spirit in the State with added accountability and responsiveness.
The MLA was addressing a gathering after laying foundation stone of Sawijan, comprising 2 Border Panchayats, to be developed as model village in Poonch district1.20 crore will be undertaken in the village under the scheme for providing basic amenities to the inhabitants.
Listing the development activities taken up in the area, he said that with the help of Minister Ali Mohd Sagar all the villages of the Haveli Poonch constituency are witnessing major development today.
Jan said Crores of rupees are being spent under MGNREGA during current fiscal year and about 10 lakh job cards issued in the State so far. New Administrative Units Biggest Achievement of Present Govt. 3 CD Blocks and 5 Naibats in Haveli Constituency had shaken the Opposition.
Referring to other development works in the district, the Jan said that work on construction of district office complex Mini Secretariat, agriculture complex, Poonch Stadium, Tiles In poonch main Bazar,Emergency Block Dist. Hospital, AD Sathra,Bedar,Nangali,Plera, in Poonch,Restoration of Poonch Fort, construction of tehsil office complex at Mandi and other tourism infrastructural works is in progress and are expected to be completed soon. Besides, about 76 road projects have been taken under PMGSY in the district.
Responding to demands, Jan said that work on food store would get underway soon besides more ambulance would also be provided soon. He said that National Conference is not a party but people's movement and it had always fought a struggle for the people's rights. "NC is movement and people are getting attached with the movement on very fast speed because they have seen the positive attitude of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his approach of developments", he said adding that Chief Minister is more sincere on development than politics and is why people are appreciating him.
