| ‘School in close vicinity still a distant dream for children of Simbalgala, | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Feb 23: Despite lodging several complaints with Chief Minister Grievance cell, local MLA, senior education officials/officers, children of Simbalgala, a remote village in Kalakot tehsil in Rajouri district still have been facing hardships as they have to travel about 4 kilometers to reach nearest school. According to government notification education department can open a new school within a radius of 2 kilometers and for a population of more than 250 souls. While Simbalgala has a population of more than 300 souls and the nearest school is 4 kilometer-the education department has adopted a silence over the struggle of the habitats for the last many years. Some social activists from the village included Rakesh and Vicky said that in this regard they had held several meetings with the concerned Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Secretary and Joint Director Education department and also approached the OSD of Chief Minister and prepared a detailed report for the opening of a Primary School in their village. They also said that all the concerned officials/officers had extended their full support for the opening of the school and even Joint Secretary had also directed the Chief Education Officer to open the primary school at Simbalgala. |
