| 44 irrigation schemes taken up under AIBP in Poonch: Gurezi | | Question hour | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 23: 44 schemes amounting to Rs. 2940.80 lakh have been taken up in hand under AIBP in irrigation sector in Poonch district, of which 20 schemes stand completed so far and the work on the rest 24 schemes are in progress. This was stated by Minister of State for PHE Nazir Gurezi while replying to question by Jahangir Hussain Mir in the Legislative Council today. He said as many as 4 schemes amounting to Rs. 212.84 lakh have been taken up under NABARD, of which 3 are schemes stand completed. Minister said that the department has taken up and completed 61 works in Irrigation Sector and 69 works in Flood Sector in Poonch District in order to protect the life and property of the people and funds to the tune of Rs. 96.29 lakh stands released for these schemes under SDRF. As many as 10 Flood Protection Projects amounting to Rs. 12396.76 lakh have been prepared and cleared in principle in 9th/10th TAC meeting and would be submitted to CWC for approval and funding as a long term measure, he maintained. Replying to supplementary by Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, the Minister for PHE and Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma informed that the works of emergency nature have been taken up under SDRF and the funds have been released for temporary restoration of public utility services in the District. |
