Woman with bullet wounds hospitalised

Kishtwar, Feb 23 : Thirty-two year old woman identified by the police as Babita Devi wife of Jeevan Lal resident Sharoti Saroor got critically injured in an accidental fire on Sunday morning and was admitted at District Hospital Kishtwar in critical condition. Police has also registered an FIR and started investigation.
As per the details, after receiving the information about the incident, Police party lead by Incharge Police Post Drabshala Nayeem-ul-Haq Mattoo rushed to the spot and seized the weapon beside shifted the injured woman to District Hospital Kishtwar where her condition is said to be critical.
The husband of the victim is a VDC SPO in Kishtwar police informed the police that the fire went off from his service rifle (303) accidentally which hit his wife. Senior police officers including Additional SP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom and SHO Police Station Kishtwar Sameer Jeelani along with Addition District Magistrate Sudarshan Kumar and First Class Magistrate Rajesh Kumar also rushed to the hospital and recorded the statement of the injured woman in presence of the magistrate.
The injured woman in her statement informed the police that as a routine matter she was cleaning the house and added that when she tried to shift the weapon, her husband informed her that the gun was loaded and advised her not to shift it.
She said when she handed over the gun to her husband it went off accidently as a result of which she got injured. After hearing the gun shot the villagers also rushed towards the house and shifted her to District Hospital Kishtwar where she underwent a critical surgery. As per the doctors she had received bullet wound on her left side of the abdomen as a result of which lot of blood has been lost. Team of Doctors lead by Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar Dr. Ghulam Mohammad Naqeeb operated on the injured lady and kept her under close observation. Police personal on duty, few local people and family members donated the blood to save the life of the injured woman. The incident took place at around 11.30 AM in the morning and the injured woman managed to reach District Hospital Kishtwar by 4.30 PM due to non availability and poor condition of the road putting her life to further risk.
