Kashmir Economic Alliance refers to Omar Abdullah as weak Chief Minister
Ask him to take cue from Jayalalitha, Mamata

SRINAGAR, Feb 22: After Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCC&I) Kashmir Economic Alliance, an amalgam of traders, transporters, hoteliers and other sections of industry took a dig at Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for surrendering strategically important power projects to National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC).
Chief Spokesman KEA, Siraj Ahmad said that refusal of NHPC to handover the state's power projects to the state government shows the arrogance and dictatorial attitude of Central Government and its public sector undertakings carrying out their functions in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
The KEA Chief Spokesman condemned the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the centre and National Conference-Congress coalition government in the state for its failure to get back the power projects being run by NHPC in the state. He attacked the UPA government particularly since it was their moral obligation to impress upon NHPC so that power projects are handed over to the state.
"Congress government has always been extremely damaging to the interests of the people of state more so Kashmir valley. NC in joining with congress and repeatedly terming its coalition as permanent and lasting friendship amply proves its hunger for power with no respect or care for the sentiments and interests for the valley population. Interests of Jammu and Ladakh are very well served by all the regional parties in the state in coalition with any national party. National Conference supported BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the centre initially and now they are part of UPA at the centre," said Siraj.
The KEA Chief Spokesman alleged that the people of valley were always neglected and never had any say in getting its legitimate demands fulfilled anywhere. He said Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) partnered Congress and the story of neglect and apathy repeated.
He added the unflinching support by NC to Congress is badly damaging the interests of Kashmiris.
"Formation of administrative units is yet another example of evil designs and manipulative tactics of Congress. The decision to form the administrative units was shaped at 10 Janpath and then implemented from Gupkar. Regional parties like NC and PDP in particular have such hatred for each other that they have lost all the interests of the valley population whom they supposedly represent and draw their maximum strength," said Siraj.
The KEA Chief Spokesman said that Omar Abdullah has turned out to be a weak chief minister by showing his helplessness in taking back the power projects from NHPC. He said Omar it too weak that he could not confront the NHPC authorities after their refusal to hand over the power projects.
"At least Omar could have done was to withdraw logistic support of the state and administration from the corporation.
He should have taken a lesson or two from the likes of J Jayalalitha and Mamata Bannerjee so as to prove his credibility before the people. Our district and tehsil units will be mobilized and due course of action will follow after consulting constituents and members," said Siraj.
