Jammu, Mar 29: The sixth edition of Sammelan, 2014 the premier technical-cum-cultural student festival of J&K was organized at the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology. Desh Bandhu, Director Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu graced the occasion as Chief Guest and inaugurated the festival. The function was presided over by Arun K. Gupta, chairman MIER group of institutions. Ankur Gupta, Joint Director MIET delivered the welcome address and described Sammelan as proof of the caliber and potential of MIET students. Gupta in his address lauded Desh Bandhu for initiating large-scale reforms in the higher education sector and streamlining the operations of the Colleges Development Council. He placed on record the tremendous support from the University of Jammu to MIET and assured the Chief Guest that MIET shall continue to push the boundaries and meet the high expectations of the Unviersity and people of the Jammu region. He further highlighted the major achievements of MIET in the last few months including tie-ups with UMKC, USA, setting up Center for Mobile Application Development, launch of an analytics framework for quality management, setting up of IEEE Student Branch, filing of 8 patents and development of 2 products and several student achievements in sports and technical competitions at the national and international level. Other dignitaries on the occasion were Renu Gupta, director MIER Group, Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER, G.S Sambyal, Former Registrar, University of Jammu, Sachin Mahajan, Cluster Head, HDFC Bank, M. L Mir, Deputy General Manager, PNB among others. |
