| Modi's commitment to safeguard Kashmiriyat provokes Pakistan to seek US mediation for settling issue | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 29 : Islamabad says that when it is election time in India Pakistan becomes an issue. But when it is election time in Pakistan India does not become any issue.Yes, Islamabad is not wrong because during pre-poll campaign political leaders in Pakistan do not talk about India but never fail to rake up the Kashmir issue. This is being done to use the Kashmir card for wooing voters on one hand and on the other Islamabad is trying to convince the voters in Pakistan that Kashmir is an international and not internal affair of India. And whenever political leaders or Government functionaries rake up the Kashmir issue they start doing so with emphasis on international dimensions of the Kashmir issue. Possibly rattled by Narendra Modi's latest pre-poll speech in which he talked about Kashmiriyat, Jammoriyat and Insaaniyat and his commitment to improve the lives of people in Jammu and Kashmir by providing better infrastructure, education, health cover and employment, Islamabad wanted to hit back telling New Delhi that the Kashmir issue was not an internal affair of India. Pakistan has said Kashmir was not an internal affair of India and is one of the oldest disputes on United Nations Security Council (UNSC) agenda. "Kashmir was not an internal affair of India. It is one of the oldest disputes on UNSC agenda," said Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam. In th order substantiate herstand she cited the presence of the officials of United Nations Military Observers Group on either side of the border in Jammu and Kashmir. But she has failed to remember that India has years ago stopped giving any recognition to the UNMOG officials. It is not for the first time that Islamabad has blamed India for not accepting Pakistan's demand for settling the Kashmir issue through the process of dialogue. Even when anti-India insurgents continue to be receiving training in over 42 arms camps in Pakistan and occupied Kashmir and despite Pak Army's support to terrorists for sneaking into Jammu and Kashmir New Delhi opened the channels of dialogue. But repeated attempts being by agencies across the LOC and the IB at derailing peace, security and political stability in Jammu and Kashmir and other Indian states have forced New Delhi to go slow. And instead of accepting India's demand for closing all the arms training camps for terrorists and for withdrawing militants who have been brought on the launch pads across the LOC and the IB for crossing into Jammu and Kashmir,Islamabad is trying to internationalise the Kashmir issue.Knowing fully well that New Delhi has rejected any third country mediation on Kashmir Islamabad has been making determined bids for motivating the United States to intervene and mediate between India and Pakistan for settling the Kashmir issue. Even after change of guard in Islamabad and despite Nawaz Sharif led Government's bid to buy peace with terrorists Pakistan continues to be rattled and rocked by repeated armed and bomb attacks on vital installations and against the security forces, including the Army. Instead of securing cooperation from India for fighting terrorists Islamabad is trying to divert peoples' attention from real problems and difficulties, including economic and energy crisis,by raking up the Kashmir issue. Islamabad's policy on Kashmir has gone wrong after it and its agencies sponsored anti-India proxy war in Jammu and Kashmir since 1989.
