| Friday attack puts question mark on preparedness of security forces | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 29: Within six months, the Pakistan based militants launched another attack on civilians and security forces on Friday, which has put a big question mark on the preparation of Jammu and Kashmir police and other security forces. But there was one positive that the Indian Army didn't lower its guard and kept militants out. The Jammu and Kashmir police lost its men on the September 26, 2013 attack in Hiranagar whereas few civilians and Army men also got killed. Thereafter, police increased the security in Hiranagar and on Jammu-Pathankote national highway. The Border Security Force (BSF) too increased the vigilance on the international border. But now the question is that how militants were able to launch another attack on this high profile national highway where every day thousands of vehicle ferry passengers. Even the army and other security forces convoy move on the highway. As it has been observed Army didn't lower its guard then who is the responsible need to be answered. Sources said that militants may have infiltrated from international border and reached the national highway early in the morning. The national highway at Dyalachak area, where militants hijacked Mahindra Bolero, is around 18 kilometers away from border. If militants infiltrated from IB, how they managed to travel 18 kilometers during the night to reach the highway? Were they provided any assistance by local guides and their number more than three? After September 26 attack last year, people of the area observed suspicious movement for three to four times and apprised the security forces about that. But every time, searches were made, nothing was found. Apart from Army it has been observed that Police and paramilitary forces have taken things for granted that militants may not attack again. But again and again militants sneak into the area and killed civilians. The government must initiate an inquiry as how these militants managed to sneak in and kill civilians. Responsibility must be put on some people so that in future, lessons are learnt and no one is able to kill people again. |
