| Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine adjudged as most 'favorite pilgrimage destination' in India | | | Agencies Delhi, Mar 29: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine has been adjudged as the most favourite pilgrimage tourist destination in Jammu and Ladakh as the most favourite adventure tourist destination in India revealed a survey conducted by Outlook Traveler Magazine (OTM). According to the survey conducted by Outlook Traveler Magazine (OTM), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Ladakh have been adjudged as the most favourite pilgrimage tourist destination and as the most favourite adventure tourist destination in India respectively. In a glittering award ceremony held at New Delhi, the awards were conferred upon J&K Tourism while awards for various categories like most favourite, Beach Resort, Heritage Destination, romantic destination, etc were also distributed in the function. During the ceremony Director Tourism Jammu Soujanya Sharma received the award on behalf of the Tourism Department on the occasion. Pervez Diwan, Secretary Tourism Government of India was the chief guest on the occasion who in his address complemented the magazine for bring out the survey in these categories. He revealed that the Government of India has taking various steps in liberalizing visa issues to encourage foreign tourism to have visa on arrival. He complemented all the states for their contribution in promoting the tourism in their respective states and said this helps the state economy to grow in various ways. "Government of India is taking various steps to promote tourism in India, he said. In his address he complemented Jammu and Kashmir tourism for its efforts in reviving the tourism industry which is the back bone of the state. He said that Shri Vaishno Devi Yatra has swelled up after taking over by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and further emphasized that more tourist destination should be developed in and around Katra to retain the tourists for day or so. |
