| Over 11 kg poppy straw seized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 24: Continuing the efforts to put a check on interstate/inter district drug peddlers/smugglers indulged in illegal trade of drugs to different parts of the country, District Police Udhampur in coordination with the CRPF personnel of 84th BN today arrested one narcotics smuggler, besides effecting haul of contraband from his possession.
"The accused has been identified namely as Mohd Arbi S/o Mohd Latief R/O Manjakot Rajouri, police said. Police reports said that following specific information police laid a naka and during the naka checking of vehicles by a joint team of CRPF and Police party intercepted a truck bearing regd no: JK02AW-8335. During search, Police party seized 11Kgs 560 gms of Poppy Straw (Bhuki) which was concealed inside specially fabricated box inside the cabin of the truck, police said further adding, "the accused smuggler was transporting the contraband from Kashmir Valley towards Jammu/Punjab and was arrested on the spot while the vehicle was seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 31/2014 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Kud against the said accused person.
