| Shariq confronts NC workers' fury for block president's folly | | | Syed Tahir Bukhari
BARAMULLA, Apr 24: National Conference-Congress coalition candidate for Baramulla Lok Sabha seat Sharif-ud-Din Shariq faced angry workers at Sheeri. The angry protesters accused Block President of NC for backing his brother in-law who has grabbed forest land in the Zandfaran area of this North Kashmir district.
According to reports as the Block President of NC stood up for his address, some of the workers objected to the same and demanded that Shariq who had already completed his speech must redress the issue of land grabbing by one of its workers in Zandfaran area.
Workers of both NC and Congress fought against each other and did not allow the NC Block President to speak. They alleged as the said person was involved in land grabbing at Zandfaran he had no moral authority to speak during the rally.
Sources told Early Times that 20 acres of forest land has been grabbed by NC worker Mohammad Sultan Mir of Zandfaran. Mir had fenced the whole area and was not allowing any passerby to move from that particular area.
"Basically Block President of National Conference from Fatehgrah area in Sheeri Tehsil is backing Mohammad Sultan Mir for these illegal works. No Government authority in the district has made him answerable," said sources.
A local wishing anonymity said," Mohalla committee had made a Government Primary School on forest land where at least 50 students are enrolled, but they don't have a space where they can move or play during free time."
This local alleged that NC worker from this area has made their lives hell. He said that whole village is scared of him as they can't raise their voice.
Zandfaran Sarpanch, Ghulam Mohammad Malik said that the Mohalla committee has submitted its report to the Deputy Commissioner's office and also spoken to the Forest Department about the matter.
A group of people told Early Times that Block President of NC from Fatehgrah is backing the violator. They said that it is irony that NC worker has captured 20 acres of land under his custody in Zandfaran area and very unfortunately his two sons who are working in the Forest Department are mere spectators as Block President is backing him on every front. |
