| Probe Panel fails to find a competent candidate for JKBOSE headship | | Goswami stays in Chair 'till further orders' | | Bivek Mathur JAMMU, Apr 24: After failure of a five member panel to identify a competent candidate for the coveted post of Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), Renu Goswami, the incumbent Secretary has managed to cling on to the headship 'till further orders'. It was learnt from sources that Government accorded extension to Goswami in view of criticism from different quarters over the failure of the five members search panel including Principal Secretary Home Suresh Kumar, Secretary School Education Hridesh Kumar, Secretary Higher Education Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed, Secretary Housing and Urban Development Satish Nehru and former JKBOSE Chairman Sheikh Bashir Ahmed to find a suitable candidate for the post of Chairman which was vacant since April 2013. The five member panel was framed on October 16, 2013 by Government and given one month time to find a suitable candidate but astoundingly, they failed to do the needful in a time bound manner, despite reports of some credible names in the list of probables. "Following this, there were rumours about the attempts by the panel to approach Election authorities to seek permission for the appointment of Chairman while the Model Code of Conduct was in place, but the same could not happen", reliable sources told Early Times. Pertinently, Early Times had reported about Goswami's backing by an Member Parliament (MP) who was batting for her despite of the fact that she was asked to join her parent department. When this newspaper made an attempt to know about her holding of the post till further order, she yelled, "find out from the Government". |
