| With PhD in Dogri, Dr Kesar heads Punjabi department | | JU gifts away posts to influential candidates | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 24: It would not be perhaps wrong to say that the Jammu University is the most (so called) liberal institute to take 'arbitrary' decisions while employing its faculty, succumbing to influential pressure. Despite strong orders from the Governor (Chancellor Jammu University) about one person one post in the university, Dr Archana Kesar seems to be an exception holding three different posts, even without having proper knowledge and understanding of one of the departments and subjects. According to a professor in the University, Dr Archana has done her masters in Sanskrit, followed by M.Phil in same subject and Hon's in Dogri. She has done her Ph.D in Dogri. Despite no entitled qualification, she is ironically holding post of Head of Punjabi Department, outdoing various deserving and qualified candidates in the department, owing to her influential milieu. Besides, head of Punjabi Department, Dr Kesar is also enjoying post of convenor at Dogri department and Principle at Music and Fine Arts. "As per norms, one person should hold one post only. But what is happening in the campus is contrary to the rules", said a source adding that all this has upset the normal functioning of the varsity. Taking dig at the university administration for spooning royal treatment to influential class, Source said that owing to the odd system of providing posts, the university is mocking with the carrier of the students. "A person mastering in Sanskrit and Dogri is supposed to serve in either of the two departments, but in Jammu University the situation is different and severe, wherein person mastering in Sanskrit and Dogri is heading Punjabi department," he said. He added that head of the department is appointed or promoted on the criteria of his or her abilities and excellence in the particular subject, "but a person proficient in one subject cannot do justice with other subject, which he or she cannot speak properly," he said. |
