Sandeep Bhat. Jammu, Apr 24: Owing to low turnout in Pulwama-Anantnag, the fate of the constituency now depends on the votes cast by Kashmiri Pandit migrants in Jammu. As per reports, at many places like Tral, Pulwama, Dadsara, Awantipora, Shopian, Drusoo, Bochoo and many other places due to boycott call and recent killings created a scare keeping most of the people indoors. Talking to Early Times from Pulwama Riyaz Ahmed said that recent killing of sarpanch by militants and boycott call was taken seriously by local populace and contributed to the low turnout. Though boycott call may favour a particular political party but overall it projects a grim picture of security set up. However, the enthusiasm among Kashmiri Pandit and Muslim migrant voters was high right from the morning. They waited in long queues to cast their votes. In Jagti and Nagrota migrants exercise their franchise which will be important factor for deciding the winner in elections. |
