Jammu, Apr 25: Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) on Friday celebrated 'Spring Festival' welcoming of new crops and harvesting of the old with zeal and zest at its premises. Chairman, MIER Dr. Arun K. Gupta was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER was the guest of honour. Students from the school and the college of education presented a cultural bonanza highlighting the theme of spring season. The programme commenced with a group song ' Jab JabAatiHaiBaisakhi' presented by the school choir. The little angels of Humming Buds presented an attractive item depicting PanjPayaras, the farmers and the lively people of Punjab. Renowned radio artists, Mrs, GursharanKour and Mrs. AvtarKour who were specially invited for the event, mesmerized the audience with the beautiful rendition of Punjabi folk songs. Shreya Sharma, a teacher trainee spoke about the importance of spring season and highlighted that spring and spring time refers to the season and also the ideas of rebirth and rejuvenation. Dr. Arun K. Gupta felicitated all the artists and performers for their excellent performances. The event is being celebrated to mark the beginning of a new season and the commencement of the new session of Model Academy School which has recently been affiliated to the CBSE Board, he said. Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER, Rupa Gupta, Member Managing Committee, Ruchika Gupta, Project Director Humming Buds, Dr. Annie Kaul, HOD B.Ed.
