| "Pak army desperate to provide safe passage to ultras into this side of LoC” | | Pak violates ceasefire, resorts to heavy mortar shelling | | MS Nazki POONCH, Apr 25: Pakistan today once again resorted to ill means by violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Kerni sector of Poonch district. The Pakistani rangers opened heavy fire on the two Indian posts viz PP1 and PP2 with small arms which later converted into heavy mortar shelling on the posts and other posts also. The shelling started 9.30 a.m. in the morning and continued till 12.15. The Indian forces of 3 Gharwal regiment posted along the LoC retaliated with heavy fire to keep the Pakistani aggression at bay successfully. No untoward incident happened in the firing. Reports said small arms and automatic weapons were used in the shelling. "Pakistan Army started unprovoked firing at our positions using small arms and automatics at Shahpur area of Poonch sector. The firing started at 9.15 am. Our troops have responded with equal calibre weapons," Defence spokesman Col Manish Mehta said. The Pakistani rangers of 641 Mujahid regiment stationed on the other side of Shahpur sector launched the offensive from its two posts viz Munshi Ghoda and Dachi and were effectively retaliated by the vigilant Indian army that thwarted the nefarious designs of the Pakistan aggression. The SHO Mandi, probationary DySP Dr Hilal Ahmed confirmed to this reporter that Pakistan had launched the offensive at around 9.30 a.m in the morning with small arms which were later replaced with heavy mortar shelling from the two Pakistani posts. "No loss of life or livestock has been reported from anywhere," said Dr Hilal Ahmed. However, as per the intelligent inputs available, the ceasefire by Pakistan is aimed to push in ultras to this side of LoC as the seasonal change of the weather in the area is reported to be facilitating the militants sneaking to this side of Indian territory. Sources inform that nearly 20 to 25 ultras are waiting on the other side of the LoC waiting for a chance to sneak into the Indian Territory. The reliable sources put the number to 25 who are based in Maitraniya village in Pakistan, adjacent to Balakote on the other side of LoC. The terrorists awaiting an opportunity to sneak into this side of the Indian Territory have made launching pads in the Maitraniya village and are being provided holistic and moral support by 641 Mujahid Regiment of Pakistan establishment, the reliable sources quote. Sources further reveal that out of many militants awaiting a chance to sneak into the Indian Territory, many among them are those who had crossed over to that side of Pakistan from different areas of Sunderbani, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar and Naushera and are trying for their return on the Indian soil to surrender before the army. Meanwhile, high alert have been sounded in the entire belt, particularly in the sensitive forward areas of Krishna Ghati, Gulpur, Poonch, Mandi and Sabzian where ultras are reportedly waiting at the launching pads on the other side to launch offensive on the India army. The army personnel deployed in the area are fully prepared to thwart any untoward or mischievous attempt by the ultras from the across who are reportedly being aided and abetted by the Pakistan Rangers in facilitating their entry into the Indian side of the LoC. |
