| Dr R L Sharma calls on Governor | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 25: Dr. R L Sharma, Member, Central Council of Indian Medicine(CCIM), Department of AYUSH, Government of India and Chairman of Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research, Jammu called on the Governor N.N.Vohra to bring into his notice the problems faced by the AYUSH Doctors and promotion of Ayurvedic System of medicines in J&K state. He informed the Governor that AYUSH Doctors are catering to the needs of 70% of the rural health care in J&K state where the doctors of Allopathic System are reluctant to provide the medical care to the rural area. He further informed the Governor that additional posts of Medical Officers (Ayd) be created in the Department of Ayush for effective running of dispensaries. The Governor was also requested to impress upon the state Government for early start of Ayurvedic College in the Government Sector. A plant of Rudraksha was also presented to the Governor. Dr.Sharma also offered for establishment of a herbal garden comprising rare medicinal herbs in the Governor house. The Governor gave a patient hearing to the information provided and stressed upon all the concerned to make the sincere efforts for export of ayurvedic drugs from foreign countries like China which is a landmark example of dealing in traditional medicines. |
