Jammu, Apr 25: An emergent meeting of State Secretariat led by Om Parkash, General Secretary and Sham Prasad Kesar, Senior leader of CITU) was held today at Jammu in view of striking workers working in Navjug Company Pvt. Limited. In a statement it was stated that Kashmir Constructional Workers Union affiliated with CITU had submitted demand notice such as 'payment of compensation on account of death of worker due to accident at workplace, implementation of EPF rules, over time payment, working hours, minimum wages, payment of Wages Act, Safety Measures at work places, Social Security to Workers and other benefits like safe drink water, First aid treatment, transportation, canteen facility, and leave benefits, winter allowance, Tunnel allowance and other allowances' time and again to the management of the company for conceding their demands but the later did not called the workers union for negotiation and that is why workers had no other alternative except to go on strike w.e.f 15th of April, 2014. The secretariat strongly condemned the attitude of management of the company for not listening to the demands of the workers and warned the state wide agitation by all affiliated unions in support of striking workers of Navjug Company and CITU appealed to the management of company to call the representatives of union for negotiation and settle all genuine demands so that peaceful industrial relations can be established at workplace. |
