JAMMU, Apr 25: To observe World Malaria Day, a Rath Yatra with the theme for this year "Invest in the future, Defeat Malaria was flagged off today by the Deputy Director (HQ) Health Services Jammu Dr. Javed Akhtar Chib in the premises of Directorate of Health Services Jammu.
The Rath Yatra was organized by State Malariologist Dr. Gurjeet Singh. Dr. Arvind Raina, Assistant Director Schemes, Dr. Preetam Katoch, Assistant Director Health Education Bureau, Dr. Shamim Mir, Controller of Stores, Jammu, Dr. Rajeshwar Sharma, Medical Officer Stores, Dr. Saroj Kotwal Zonal Leprosy officer Jammu, Dr. Sanjay Turki District Health Officer, Jammu were among other senior officers/ officials of the Health department present on the occasion.
The motive of this Rath Yatra is to make the public aware of the preventive measures to be adopted for the control of malaria. Dr. Javed Akhtar Chib asked the public to adopt the simple preventive measures viz keeping the surrounding clean, to wear clothes that cover the whole body, to use mosquitoes repellents etc. "With these simple measures one can stay away from malaria", he said. Rath Yatra passed through the different areas of the Jammu city. |
