| Baridars allege political interference in MSBSSB | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 25: The members of the Baridar Association Sukrala Mata, Billawar has alleged political interference in controlling and managing the affairs of holy deity of Mata Sukrala after formation of Mata Sukrala Bala Sundri Shrine Board. They however said that rights and interests of the Baridar should be taken care in the controlling and managing of the same. Talking to media persons here today, president of the Baridar Association Sukrala Mata Billawar Satish Sharma said, "The genuine caretakers i.e. Uppadya parivar who are managing the affairs of the Mata since its inception from last 600 years has been totally ignored regarding affairs of the Sukrala Mata after the formation of Mata Sukrala Bala Sundri Shrine Board". He mentioned, "Earlier the affairs of the deity by Baridars and pujaris but after the formation of the board Government has not given any representation to Baridars and pujaries and their interests has been totally ignored". He demanded that all possible rights should be given to the Baridars on the line of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. He further mentioned that about 60% of Baridars are fully dependent on the offering of the deity and due to constitution of the board, the said baridars will be deprived of their rights. Condemning the role of local MLA and Minister in formation of Board, Sharma said that enactment of Mata Sukrala Bala Sundri Shrine Board was totally political motivated and some have vested interests to fulfill their political designs. Elaborating further, he alleged the non-official members appointed in the Mata Sukrala Bala Sundri Shrine Board are belonging to the one political party. "Every time when baridars tried to pursue their viewpoint before the State, District administration and Chairman of the board, they only got assurances as nothing positive came out till date in giving rights and representation to Baridars in board", he maintained, adding, "Many times they staged demonstrations in support of their demands but all into vain". Sharma further alleged that Minister also making arbitrary appointments in Mata Sukrala Bala Sundri Shrine Board to serve his political interests. Sharma however appealed the State Government and chairman and Divisional Commissioner Jammu to take the interests and rights of the Baridars and pujaries of the Mata Sukrala Devi. Among others who were present in the press conference included Mahinder Vaid, Aman Sharma, Rohit, Rajneesh and others. |
