| KCCI assures full support to Pashmina artisans | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 25: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has assured full support to the Pashmina artisans and said that the chamber will not allow defaming of original Kashmiri shawls through the sale of machine made shawls. KCCI President, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad while interacting with a group of Pashmina artisans said that the chamber would safeguard the interests of the artisans and that their interests would not be sabotaged. Ashiq said that KCCI has already taken up the case of wrong portrayal of a Pashmina vendor in a television advertisement adding that legal notice has been slapped on Idea, the mobile company that has made the advertisement. A delegation of Pashmina artisans under the umbrella of Pashmina Kaarigar Union led by its President, Rauf Ahmad Qureshi met the KCCI President and submitted his memorandum of demands. The Pashmina artisans urged for sympathetic and lenient view so that the age old tradition is kept alive. |
