JAMMU, April 29: Department of Mathematics today made it to the semifinals of men's volleyball and women's carrom events in the ongoing inter-department sports meet of University of Jammu, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education on the campus, here. The organising committee has scheduled the semifinals matches of all three events of volleyball, carrom and table tennis tomorrow from 10 am onwards. Earlier, in the preliminary round of volleyball, Department of Mathematics trounced SHTM in straight sets of 25-13, 25-17. In another match, Department of Physical Education defeated The Law School in similar manners 25-13, 25-23 to qualify for the last four stages. Meanwhile, in women's carrom event, Department of Mathematics qualified for the semifinals. In the quarterfinals, played today, they defeated MCA Department 2-0. The Results: Neetu Devi bt Sonam; Heena bt Akshma. The Law School and SHTM won their respective matches in men's table tennis event. In the first match, Law School beat Department of Economics 3-0: Anurag bt Moninder 11-08, 11-07; Abhinav bt Rajesh Singh 11-02, 11-03; Karman bt Shakti 11-02, 11-06. In another match, SHTM trounced Department of Mathematics 3-0.The Results: Shubham Gandral bt Gourav Prashar 11-04, 11-02; Showkat Ali bt Mukesh Sharma 14-12, 04-11, 11-08; Wasim Ahmad bt Samandeep Singh 11-04, 11-06. Today's matches officiated by Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar and Vikas Karlopia. Also present were PD Singh, Jai Bharat and Nisha Sharma. |
