JAMMU, Apr 29: From hostels to libraries and academic curriculum, the GMC Jammu is in complete mess and administration of the premier institution is cold and indifferent to the issues facing the students.
Girls hostel sans basic amenities and is facing utter neglect of the administration. Faculty employed to teach paramedics are not taking their jobs seriously owing to which students are suffering as far as completion of courses is concerned.
A paramedic student pleading anonymity said that for the last over one year, the faculty members are taking their classes randomly due to which students of GNM, Paramedics and Pharmacy courses are facing extreme hardships regarding completion of syllabus and despite repeated reminders to the Principal of the hostel Rajni Sharma, she is unmoved to the genuine demand of the students.
For over 200 students of these subjects, there are three batches in total and the first batch has two sections. "Faculty members of X-ray courses, Laboratory courses, Dental courses, ophthalmic courses and Sanitary inspector courses do not bother to attend their classes in absence of a deterrent and hence the victims are the students", she added.
She further lamented that morning practical classes start from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and after interval theory classes starts from 1:20 pm but usually students have to sit idle in these classes due to unauthorized absence of faculty members.
"No authority has ever inspected about the condition of hostel where students have to wait for their turn to sit on chairs to study. With 15-20 chairs, the library sans books and some posts of Tutors, Watchmen are lying vacant but no one has ever bothered to re-advertise these posts for the convenience of students", she lamented.
"The paramedic students are already on the streets to fight for variety of issues regarding delaying of courses, unavailability of mark sheets in stipulated time period, unavailability of J&K Nursing council and this mental teasing is unbearable", she added. |
