| Facing strong contest from PDP, AAP | | Litmus test for Farooq Abdullah | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 29: It is a litmus test for National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah in Srinagar Parliamentary constituency as he is facing his toughest competition from this prestigious seat which has remained with National Conference (NC) for past 60 years. But this time, Abdullah senior is facing double threat from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Tariq Hameed Qarra and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Raja Muzaffar. It is a well known fact that whenever people have responded to Hurriyat boycott call, the NC has benefited. The PDP has been asking people to come out and vote as if they don't come out for one day they will have to suffer for more than 2000 days. The AAP candidate on the other hand has been raking up the corruption issue of both NC and PDP and is asking people to vote for change and better tomorrow. But all eyes would be on people of Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, which is spread in three districts, Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal and Hurriyat people have had great impact on people in these districts. The hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani has been constantly calling for poll boycott since militancy broke out in the state. But his boycott call was defied in 2002, 2004, 2008 and 2009 elections and voter turnout has witnessed upward trend. This time also PDP and AAP are wishing that voter turnout remains on the higher side so that they get benefitted by the anti-incumbency and NC is shown the door.
