Construction work of incomplete toilet complex gets underway
4/29/2014 10:41:46 PM
Shiv Kumar Padha

BASOHLI, Apr 29: The repeated efforts of the locals of Basohli finally bear fruit as the Block Development Officer (BDO) Basohli initiated the construction work of incomplete toilet complex near Chanchlo Devi temple situated four kilometers away from the town.
The temple is being thronged by thousands of devotees during the navratras who feel great difficulty in the absence of any public facility in the temple complex. The devotees and the visitors are compelled to defecate or urinate in public which looks shabby and against the public hygiene.
The work of the said structure started in 2011 by the BDO Basohli in concealed agreement with vested interests which progressed with the snail's pace with the result the structure is laying where it was left by the constructing agency for the last five years.
Public of Basohli and the devotees visiting the temple daily approached BDO Basohli for the speedy completion of the most needed urinals-cum-bathrooms.
Every time BDO of the time returned the people showing his ignorance regarding the agency under taking the construction and denied about its completion in future.
An RTI was also filed in BDO Basohli in this connection but no satisfactory answer was given in response.
Pertinent to mention here that the payments for the construction of the complex have long been made to the persons whose identity is concealed from the public till date. These days the incomplete structure is standing amidst the bushes in the jungle which is nothing less than wastage of public money.
There are gross irregularities in the construction completed so far as one can find the cracks on the roof.
The public and the devotees are agitated over the indifferent attitude of BDO Basohli. Such action of the BDO is construed as a blow to the religious sentiments of one section of society and if the work on the structure is not completed before the next navratras, the devotees will have no other option except resorting to agitation.
The Block Development Officer Basohli is requested as well as warned not to play with the patience of the public and complete the urinal- cum-bathroom complex as soon as possible in the interest of the public and devotees.
