Palampur, Apr 29: Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, on Tuesday invoked sentiments on Kargil war hero's name while campaigning in Himachal Pradesh.
While addressing an election rally in Palampur-the hometown of fallen soldier of 1999 Kargil war- Captain Vikram Batra, Modi referred to Batra's catch-phrase of "Yeh Dil Maange More" (the heart wants more) to seek votes for all four seats from Himachal Pradesh in the ongoing parliamentary polls. "When I think of Vikram Batra, I feel I want more. He reminds me again and again that the heart wants more in this election," Modi said.
Captain Vikram Batra sacrificed his life during Kargil War which brought India and Pakistan to the brink of their fourth full-scale war in 1999. He famously used the phrase "Yeh Dil Maange More" before he died. Meanwhile, continuing his tirade against the Congress party, Modi accused them of betraying the soldiers, who sacrificed their lives for the nation. "At least speak the truth for the ones who have always protected mother India, who have sacrificed their lives for mother India," he said.
Modi also dubbed himself a servitor to the nation, saying the nation does not need rulers. "The rulers have destroyed this country, now the country needs a servitor," he said.
