| JU students demand roll back in hostel fees | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 29: Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad Jammu University activists boycotted the classes of Jammu University and raised slogans against the vice chancellor Prof. Mohan Pal Singh Isher.
The protesting students were led by Ashwani Sharma President ABVP JU. The students after boycotting the classes took a rally from Jammu university main gate to Bikram Chowk.
While addressing students on the occasion Ashwani Sharma said that they condemn the statement given by JU spokesperson as it is totally false and baseless. The matter of fact is that Jammu university statute was acted in 2010, according to which only 10-15 % of the hostel fee can be hiked per academic year but the VC JU has violated these statutes and enhanced the hostel fee by 85% which is irrational and illogical while the VC JU is giving vague excuses.
Bhavishya Sudan (vice president JU) while lambasting on the occasion said that VC JU is harassing the students for the last 49 days.
He also said that while showing favoritism attitude towards some students have been charged 2200/, some 3480/, some 6100/, some 5900/ while some girls hostel boarders have been charged 6400/ instead of 5480/. There is steep hike in hostel fee by 85% (electricity charges by 200%, room rent by 100%). ABVP demand immediate roll back in hostel fee hike. |
