Early Times Report Kathua, Apr 29: An accidental fire destroyed the standing crops in Sherpur of Kathua here today, sources said. As per reports, the crops spread over six Kanals turned to ashes, when a live wire came into contact with harvesting machine causing short circuit resulting into huge inferno later reducing the standing crops to ashes. The aggrieved farmer Daya Ram Sharma of Sherpur told reporters that fire left whole standing crops to ashes and smoke only and dashing all my hopes to the grounds. "The fire has put me major financial loss to me, Sharma said. He urged to the civil administration to assess the loss by visiting the spot and release genuine compensation to him. He said that this fire has given him another financial dent to him as earlier seven hectare of his agriculture land was washed away in flash floods in recent past. |
