| Exchange of hot words between Modi, Abdullahs may impact security scenario in J&K | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 29: The BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was at the centre of a slanging match, with the Congress and the National Conference targeting him. On his part, Modi kept the heat on them with sharp retorts, as campaigning for the seventh phase of polls ended on Monday.
Security experts are of the firm opinion that the sharp barbs thrown on Modi by Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, that borders on challenging the constitution of India, are likely to encourage Pakistan to build anti-India hysteria in the Kashmir valley and in areas across the LOC in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to these experts the establishment in Islamabad and the Pakistan Army had maintained silence on the ongoing elections in India and had neither raised the Kashmir issue nor had its Army violated ceasefire agreement. But after the exchange of sharp vituperative between the Abdullahs and Modi Pakistani troops violated ceasefire agreement in Poonch and Rajouri areas on two occasions. Political pandits say that the tug of war between Modi and Abdullahas was bound to trigger violence in the Kashmir valley thereby affecting the poll process. According to these Pundits, both sides have crossed limits of political sagacity and decency. They said that the war of words between the Congress and the BJP and between Modi and Rahul Gandhi at the national level may not trigger violence and encourage disruptive forces but the exchange of vituperative between Abdullahs and Modi on Jammu and Kashmir and on communalism could endanger political and security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the valley. They said that separatists have felt encouraged because of peoples' response to their call for poll boycott in Anantnag constituency and they could utilize the growing friction and political tussle between Abdullahs and Modi for vitiating political atmosphere in the state. |
