Jammu, May 25: Residents of Khanpur Nagrota led by State General Secretary Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Rakesh Wazir today staged a protest demonstration against the setting up of slaughter House in the area. The residents gathered near National Highway and held strong protest by raising slogans against the government for constructing slaughter house. Later SHO Nagrota and other senior officers intervened and after talking to the senior officers in the administration assured that no work would be started over there until unless the concerns of the people are redressed and assured that every effort would be made to convince the authorities for shifting its site. The villagers were demanding that the slaughter house should be made at some isolated and lonely place which is easily available somewhere else and not at a site which is thickly populated and have a temple and a school just nearby and is the route of more than one yatries visiting Vaishnodevi. The protestors among others included Serpanch Iqbal choudhary, Lamberdar Daljit Singh, Subhash Chander, Jagdev Singh, Madam Kanchan, Shambhu Nath, Gardhari Lal, Sagar Singh and Madan Lal. |
