APSCC urges Pak PM to ensure no damage is caused to Gurudwaras 5/25/2014 11:44:42 PM Early Times Report Srinagar, May 25 : The All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) today asked Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif to rein in extremist elements and ensure that no damage whatsoever is caused to the Gurudwaras in that country. In a statement here, APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said although majority of the people in Pakistan take care of Gurudwaras there are some elements who have in recent past carried out attacks on some of them. He said APSCC has written to Delhi Gurudwara Prabandakh Committee (DGPC) to lodge a protest against attacks on Gurudwaras and desecration of Guru Granth Sahib in Sheikhupura and Karachi with Sharif who is arriving here tomorrow to take part in swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate, Narendra Modi. Raina said representatives of 20,000 Sikhs living in Pakistan have already lodged their complaint and shown resentment to the Pakistan parliament. He said after assurance from MPs and many other leaders including Imran Khan, chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaaf, the Sikh leaders have decided to wait for the Pakistan government. 'We want that the Pakistan Prime Minister to speak on this issue during his visit to India so that the members of Sikh community across the globe are satisfied. We appreciate Government of Pakistan for keeping Sikh historical shrines and Gurudwaras in good shape and up to our satisfaction and never allowed any element to sabotage these places of religious importance,' said Raina. The APSCC has appealed to the Sikh community to remain vigilant as some elements are trying to provoke the Sikhs for disturbing the communal harmony in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.The Committee has condemned the incident of Poonch where authorities were forced to impose curfew following escalation of communal tension.
