| KPDCA wants Govt to stop expansion of collection centres | | | Jehangir Rashid
SRINAGAR, May 25: At a time when the leading diagnostic companies of the country are setting up collection centres across Kashmir valley the specialists in the field counter the move saying that this in the long run puts a huge question mark on the accuracy of such results thus posing a great risk to the overall health system of a person. Talking to Early Times, Umar Iqbal Dhar, President, Kashmir Private Diagnostic Centres Association (KPDCA) said that mushroom expansion of the collection centres should be stopped at the earliest in the interest of patient care. Umar said that this would ensure that correct results of analysis come out and patients are not a harried lot. "People are right in quoting inaccuracy of results. Samples collected are being sent to main laboratories hours after collection because of which results are different at different places. This needs to be stopped in order to provide a platform for every human being to live an authenticated and result oriented life. Influential people make it but ultimately poor and needy are the sufferers," said Umar. The President KPDCA said that diagnostic up-gradation has issues out of which some stand resolved, but there are yet issues in pipeline especially rates to be finalized in the interest of patient care for various diagnostic and laboratory procedures which of course should be cost-effective. "Rates are subject to approval on consensus in the interest of patient care by various stakeholders. The issue is already with the government. But till its finalization, the association has issued the cost effective rate list since last year and this year even. People are requested to check the rates and any variation should be reported," said Umar. The KPDCA President said that the Association wants that NOC from KPDCA should be made pre-requisite and mandatory before any professional is given a job at any diagnostic centre. He said the Association can play best role against such ill character elements, if NOC made mandatory to submit cases of registration. "Trust of Association members and sufferings together led to designing road map for leading private health sector wherein senses, energy and decision power initially had to motivate, inspire, preserve and guide within, to uphold the struggle for nourishing humanity," said Umar. The KPDCA President said that success means if people together stand by sufferers in providing cost effective services in the private health sector to define motto and prove concern for them. |
