| Teachers' problems not addressed for long time | | Nepotism ails Trehgam Education zone | | Syed Tahir Bukhari
KUPWARA, May 27: Surrounded in many controversies, yet another bitter fact with the Education ministry in J&K remains that department of education has not addressed the problems and demands of their teachers in zones Trehgam, which is by several degrees too bad in North Kashmir's Kupwara district.
According to reliable sources, teachers of Education Zone Trehgam Kupwara did TALASH survey under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in 2012, which was meant for drop out students and they were supposed to pay these teachers Rs 8 for every single form.
At least every teacher got 150 forms on an average and this job was assigned to almost 600 teachers for which remuneration has not been paid so for. A group of Teachers said, "They did Ten Days Capacity Building Programme (TDCBP) training through SSA in January 2013 for which no remuneration has been paid" "Rs 10 are also deducted from their salaries since 2007 under Teachers Welfare Fund (TWF) but nobody knows where this huge money goes" teachers said. These teachers alleged that some officials have appointed junior teacher of 2009 batch Kaiser Ahmad Shah, a close relative of, Mir Saifullha Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, as Zonal Resource Person (ZRP) in the said zone, who according to them is running the whole administration which has made this zone worse over the years. Zonal Education Officer, Zone Trehgam Mumtaz Ahmad Khan told Early Times," all these remunerations are not only pending in our zone but throughout the valley. According to him we have an order copy of Director School Education Kashmir that Rs 10 should be deducted from the salaries of these teachers under Teachers welfare fund".
When asked about the teacher Kaiser Ahmad Shah he said, "I was not willing to engage him as Zonal Resource Person (ZRP) as I was having many complaints against him but I, was directed by the concerned Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kupwara. He (CEO) was told by some minister to adjust him as ZRP ."I got an application on which it was clearly written by CEO that "engage him as ZRP" after which I had no option except to engage him", he said. |
