Luxury cars using tinted glasses; Traffic police unmoved
5/28/2014 12:07:38 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 27: Despite Supreme Court ban, the high-end luxury cars of the influential people continue to use black tint on their vehicles in Jammu. The Supreme Court had directed the traffic authorities to immediately seize the vehicle using black tints in 2012, but the traffic police seem to be reluctant in controlling the violation in the winter capital of the state.
The high end luxury cars are plying rampantly in the city with black tinted glasses and the traffic police are hesitant to even question the affluent people behind the steering wheel.
Satish Kumar, a commuter in a small car said, "Whenever I travel to my office from home, I always find atleast one SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) with black tint plying on the road, but I fail to understand, why the traffic cops don't seize this vehicle." "If I don't wear the seat belt, they stop me immediately and fine me, why don't they stop these violators, who are violating the directions of the Supreme Court?" he asked. Two years ago, when the Supreme Court had issued the directions to ban black tint or any kind of curtain or shade on the vehicle, The traffic cops actively started a drive to remove tint from the vehicle and after the deadline hundreds of vehicles, including Army and government vehicles were also seized. But now the traffic police shut their eyes to high-end Luxury car using black tint. Traffic constable on duty, requesting anonymity said, "Whenever we stop a SUV with black tint, we find the vehicle belongs to some influential person and we have to leave him. So we ignore the high-end luxury vehicles violating traffic norms." No traffic official was available for the comment on the issue.
