Pre-arrest bail denied to Husband, In-laws in dowry demand case

Jammu, May 27 : Principal Sessions Judge Jammu RS Jain rejected the bail application of Anwar Khursheed husband, Choudhary Farooq Alam father-in-law, Hamida Bibi mother-in-law, Rasheed Bibi sister of mother-in-law and Tariq Iqbal Uncle in dowry demand case.
According to the police case that, complainant Nazia Hussain who is the wife of petitioner Anwar Khursheed filed a complaint before CJM, Jammu That the complainant got married to accused no.1 on 15.12.2013 and immediately after the marriage, the accused started harassing her and torturing her to get more dowry and that her father who is an ordinary shop keeper tried to meet the demands of the accused and even borrowed money for this purpose but during this period the demands of the accused became unreasonable and her father could not meet the demands, the accused started physically assaulting the complainant. It has been further averred in the complaint that the complainant got pregnant and was carrying a child of two and half months in her womb and in March 2014, all the accused beat her with fists and kicks on her abdomen as a result of which the complainant became unconscious and was shifted to a private hospital as there was danger to her life due to severe beating and bleeding had started. That in the hospital, the accused pressurized the
complainant to sign papers on the ground that such signatures were required for her treatment but that she came to know later on that her signatures had been used to operate an remove the dead fetus which had been aborted (killed due to severe abdominal hits given by the accused).
Principal Sessions Judge Jammu RS Jain after hearing Adv RH Mir for the accused persons observed that no good ground has been made out by the petitioners for grant of anticipatory bail and rejected the same. (JNF)
