Trains delay on Jammu-Udhampur section, Passengers bear brunt

Jammu, May 30: A technical snag developed front engine of a load carrier train at 14/6 at Bajalta put the normal train services out the gear and most of the trains plying on Jammu -Udhampur segment putting passengers in particular the students to face the brunt as many of them missed their examinations scheduled here today. The problem started in the early hours of Friday when the front engine of a load carrier had developed a technical snag at 14/6 at Bajalta. According to sources, the mechanical staff was yet to rectify the technical snag, the field staff Delhi Udhampur bound train 'Uttar Samparak Kranti Express (12445) gave green signal as a result it got stranded for about 6 hours at Bajalta Station. "Not only Uttar Kranti, the passengers travelling in Malwa Express also have bear the brunt of technical and human error as well as the train chugged on from Sungar Station after approximately 5 hours delay, sources added. Not only these two trains even the daily passengers of Pathankote-Jammu bound train namely Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) extended to Udhampur too got stuck for atleast 6 hours after filed staff gave a greens signal from Jammu Railway Station. "The DMU after being held up for over 6 hours at Bajalta Station came back to Jammu Railway Station resulting inconvenience to the commuters, they added. Commuters alleged that the lack of coordination between the field staff landed them in trouble and the worst affected of this 'held up' were of students, aspirants of new jobs and employees who failed to reach to their respective destinations. Later, the students of Jammu University who could make to their examinations being conducted by Jammu University held protest demonstration against Railway authorities.
Meanwhile, reports that the Jammu University administration assured the protestors their re- examination after the senior Railway authorities admitted the fault in written.
