| Taj likely to join PDP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 30: What could be a major setback for state Congress a lobby within the party including the Health Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din is likely to join PDP ahead of LA elections. Sources close to Taj informed Early Times that the news was disclosed by Taj Mohi-ud-Din himself to many senior leaders of the Congress including vice President, Ghulam Nabi Monga on Thursday in his secretariat office. Sources said that Taj Mohi-ud-Din had already made up his mind to inform state Congress about his decision. However on Thursday when talks about recent poll debacle were going on, Taj while turning towards Ghulam Nabi Monga said that he has decided to join PDP. Taj predicted rout of Congress in Assembly elections and said he cannot wait for 10 years to become a Minister again. Ex-MLA Sopore Haji Abdul Rasheed Dar, vice president Ghulam Nabi Monga, Surinder Singh Chani and some others were present when Taj gave his mind. Sources said that Taj informed Monga and others that he along with some other colleagues of state Congress who follow his orders in letter and spirit are also switching over to PDP. Monga reportedly asked Taj what was he waiting for. "I want to be in the Ministerial chair for some time more. I will join PDP along with my lobby," he reportedly said. According to sources, a particular lobby follows Taj and the Congress is likely to shrink after Taj joins PDP. Ghulam Nabi Monga told Early Times that the matter was serious. Only JKPCC President Saif-ud-Din Soz can comment on this. We do not know about the meeting in the secretariat. It was a kind of informal talk going on between us," he said. Pertinently Taj Mohi-ud-Din is considered a strong contender in North Kashmir's Uri constituency where according to figures during 2008 Assembly elections Taj scored around 22,000 votes against Shafi Uri of National Conference, besides in recently concluded Parliamentary elections, Uri as per details available was the only constituency of Kashmir where from a Congress partner of NC-Congress alliance could give around 2300 votes to alliance candidate despite huge cross voting. |
