| Kalal residents face shortage of basic facilities | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, May 30 : Inhabitants of village Kalal under the jurisdiction of Noushera tehsil have alleged acute shortage of basic amenities for the last many months. Being situated near the Line of Control (LoC) the inhabitants of the village were also not provided telecommunication services by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and facing difficulties in connecting their relatives/authorities in case of any emergency. Vijay,Rajesh Swaran Kanta and many others said that the village has not been provided safe drinking water for the last more than three months . "The matter has been taken up with the higher authorities several times and they have failed badly to repair the damaged water supply pipes" said Rajesh. He added during ensuing intense heat waves women and men have to travel miles together to fetch drinking water from the natural sources and due to impure water and in the absence of proper guidance people falling prey to diseases related to impure water. Unscheduled power cuts ranging between 3-4 hours besides official power curtailment for 8 hoiurs in a day have also added woes in their routine life as they have to remain inside their houses/shops for some relief from blistering sun. The inhabitants of village Kalal have appealed to the authorities to mitigate their problems at their earliest otherwise they will be forced to adopt a path of agitation. |
