| Landslide affected people protest against 'inaction' of administration | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, May 30: The landslide and shooting stone victims hailing from village Dadkan, Phirgham, Ajjana and Pullar of District Kishtwar irked over inaction today held a protest against the administration and the government for their failure in providing the help to nearly 180 families who had rendered homeless due continuous triggering of landslide in Checha Kishtwar. As per the details available with "Early Times" affected families assembled at Padyarna some 30 KM from Kishtwar and blocked traffic on Kishtwar-Padder-Himachal National Highway for more than four hours. The protestors were also joined in by the activists of BJYM led by President Ashish Sharma. Agitating people demanded sanction of 5 Marlas of land in favor of each affected family so that they can build their own houses. They also demanded immediate release of sanctioned ration in favour of the affected families, beside adequate compensation to all the affected families. They laid stress for distribution of at least 100 tents to the affected families and demanded shifting of Patwari and Naib Tehsildar. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik and Tehsildar Kishtwar Falail Singh rushed to the spot and after giving patient hearing to the demands of the protestors, ADC Kishtwar assured them all possible relief to the affected families after completion of all the legal formalities. He directed the concern TSO to provide the ration to the affected families and also assured protestors that more tents will be provided to them at an earliest. On the assurance of ADC Kishtwar, the agitators called off their protest. |
