Kathua, May 30: Five persons were rescued by joint rescue team of Police, Civil Defense and BSF at Kathua here on Thursday when the two vehicles they were boarding on suddenly got marooned in flash floods here today in Ravi River. According to sources, the five persons who had gone to river basin in the wee hours of the morning got trapped in flash floods. "Soon after receiving the information police alongwith Civil Defence and BSF troops launched a rescue operation and saved trapped men from the swelling river here today, sources said. Taking strong notice of the illegal mining issue, Additional DC Kathua, S Narinder Singh Bali said that preventive steps will be soon taken soon to stop this illegal extraction. |
